Melissa Berner

Team:  2007 NOMA Stars 16 White

Hello, volleyball enthusiasts!  My name is Melissa Berner, and this is my first year coaching for NOMA.  I am the 16’s White coach.  I cannot wait for the season to begin!

Volleyball has been a major aspect of my life.  I absolutely love playing, coaching, and watching volleyball!  I started playing when I was in fourth grade, and played on a JO’s team from my hometown of Grantsburg, Wisconsin.  Once I entered seventh grade, I had the opportunity to play on our school team, but I continued to play JO’s during the winter.  For most of my middle/high school years, I played season volleyball in the fall, JO’s in the winter, and attended various camps in the summer.  As you can see, my world revolved around this awesome sport!  I started coaching when I was a senior in high school.  I had the chance to coach my younger sister’s JO’s team.  I figured if I wasn’t going to be on a team this was the next best way to be involved in the sport.  Last fall while I was living and teaching in Grantsburg, I was the head coach of the seventh grade school team.  Finally, this fall, I was the assistant eighth grade coach at John Glenn Middle School.  Each of these experiences has taught me a great deal about coaching.  I am looking forward to coaching athletes of a higher ability level on this 16’s team.

Finally, I got married over the summer to my high school sweetheart, and we now live in St. Paul.  I am a teacher at John Glenn Middle School as well.
