Mathias Baden Team: 2009 NOMA Stars 15-1 |

Mathias Baden, 29, of St. Paul is the head coach of the NOMA Stars 15s team. He is the husband of 16s coach Jayme Bender Baden. Mathias switched to coaching Junior Olympics volleyball after volunteering for 12 Maplewood Parks and Recreation boys basketball teams during the past eight years. His basketball teams have been consistent winners or playoff contenders, based on hard work and intensity on the court. Even while coaching basketball, he volunteered an occasional day helping out past 15s teams at NOMA tryouts, practices, and tournaments. Mathias, a left or middle hitter, has been playing volleyball for 12 years and continues to play at the Inver Grove armory, Presentation Catholic Church in Maplewood, and in various open tournaments. He works as the editor of the Jordan Independent newspaper in Jordan, he and Jayme are members of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, and they are both proud alumni of North High in North St. Paul. |
